Help me spread the love!

I have a ton of writing energy right now, and I want to do something nice for everyone on my flist. You guys have been so great over the years, whether through your posts and comments, your fic and art, or the chance to get together with you in person.

As a way of saying thank-you, I’d like to offer drabbles. Originally, I was going to post them all on December 31st, but instead, I’ve decided to post one a day during the month of January (I’ll start posting on the 31st).

Note: the meme originally said you had to return the favour, but please don’t let that stop you from requesting something. This is my awkward way of saying “I ♥ fandom”, and I’d love everyone reading this to leave something.

Please leave me a prompt and a character/pairing here. (HP or Buffy, and I’ll do any character/pairing, gen, het or slash).

2 more snupin santa recs

So far, the quality of pretty much all the Snupin Santa fics posted have been really high quality, and I want to encourage you to read them all.

But, the following two are fantastic examples of how amazing PWP's can be when really well done.

What Happened to Percy is a seductive story where the experienced couple (Snape and Lupin) seduce a very willing and virginal Percy. This is one of those stories where if you generally find teacher/former student (Percy is very much an adult), threesomes, double penetration, or Percy kind of squicky, it'll show you how good it can really be.
5 stars!!!
Summary: Percy was staring, and Percy got caught.

You Know Me So Well is a very different fic from the one above. Where that one was feel-good and sensual, this one is dark and raw. The writing is so fantastic and evocative that even though a part of you might go 'oh, non-con, I don't think so', the rest of you will tell it to mind it's own business as you get caught up in what they're doing. (And, it's more dub-con than non-con imho). If you usually shy away from dark-fic, and I usually do but I'm trying to read all the snusa fics this year, this is one you should definitely make an exception for because of how stunning it is.
5 stars!!!
Summary: You will never forget how it happens: the way his lip curls around the word, the way he bares his uneven teeth in a silent hiss, the way his eyes fuse horror, fascination and contempt into one searing glance that brands you for the rest of your days. You are a monster. And in all the world, only the two of you understand. Set during PoA and MWPP era.

drabble offer

Drabble it forward: Make a post inviting people to request drabbles in the fandoms you write; any number of commenters you can handle. But the catch is, once someone makes a request, they also have to post the meme, and drabble it forward.

First 20 people will recieve a drabble on December 31st.

HP or Buffy fandom.

Leave a character/pairing and one-word prompt on my LJ here.

snusa rec and cards

I got my first holiday card! *smooshes [info]dbassassin*

If you like Snape/Lupin (even a little bit) and like sci-fi (even a little bit), then you need to go read Ghost in the Machine.

It's wonderfully written, the characterization is just fantastic, and the richness of the AR world created by the author (with just the right amount of referencing) is amazing. The descriptions from the very beginning were so vivid, I was drawn right in.

Here's the summary:
There is no better mecha pilot than the angry, bitter Severus Snape - except, perhaps, for his new mechanic, Remus Lupin. Both men are hiding something, and fighting against themselves as much as each other. Thrown together by circumstance and the threat of looming war, can they move past their differences and to foil the plans of an evil corporation, achieve victory, and perhaps find there is a far more satisfying touch than that of cold steel?

Go read it!!!

website design - recommendation pls

Can anyone on my flist recommend a reliable website designer?

The person who was supposed to design my company website (for my new consulting gig) completely flaked out, and 3 months later, I still have no website.

I would really appreciate if you could either recommend someone you've worked with, or if you are a prof. web designer who has the time to take on another client right now, please comment or email me at drusillas_rain at yahoo dot ca

HELP PLEASE - resource for children (both under-age and adult) of mentally ill parents

For a few years now, I've been thinking of putting together a resource for children (both under-age and adults) of mentally ill parents.

I now have an opportunity to do something about this by creating a non-profit organization.

The reason for this particular post, is that I need your help, as I want this resource to be as helpful and beneficial as possible.

Did you grow up with a mentally ill parent?
Are you a parent with a mental illness?

If you are, I would very much appreciate it if you could take the time to think about and reply about things you personally would have found helpful from a community agency or website. Or maybe there is something already being done in your area or website that you have found valuable.

You can leave anon comments or email me at drusillas_rain at yahoo dot ca if you aren't comfortable leaving regular comments.

Also, I would greatly appreciate it if you could pimp this, as I would love to get as wide a range of experiences as possible.

Thanks!!!

beta needed for snupin fic

It's been over a year I think since I've written anything non-drabblish that required a beta *does happy dance*

So, I have a ss/rl fic of 2000 words that I would like one or two people to look over. I'd love britpicking help, and help with making sure the fic makes sense (e.g. continuity, ending isn't rushed, etc.), as well as of course any spag errors I didn't catch.

The fic is for the [info]lupin_snape fantasy fest that was due August 31st, so it's a few weeks late (meaning, I don't need a super-fast turnaround).

Comment with your email address if interested please. (all comments are screened)

EDIT: betas found

* Comment on this post.
* I will give you a letter.
* Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

[info]elfflame gave me "N"

Neville Longbottom - Harry Potter - I'm so happy how he turned out in the last book. The snippets of growth were always there, and it was wonderful reading about him at the end. He's also my fave character to write and read genfic drabbles about.

Nathan Explosion - Metalocalypse - He's on my list of top three celebrities I would sleep with. Yes, I'm aware he's animated. It's just ever since the episode where he had a girlfriend, and his hair went all flippy and cute, I've been enamoured. On a side note, I saw Dethklok perform a few months ago, and it was so metal \mm/

Neelix - Star Trek: Voyager - I didn't like Voyager as much as I did TNG or DS9, but the episodes that revolved around B'Elanna/Paris, or around Neelix and Tuvok were my favourite (and the Doctor! because he was awesome). During the last ep when he was saying goodbye to all the crew had me all sniffly.

Noble, Donna - Doctor Who - I loved her character. She was older, and knew exactly how dull the regular world is. She was curious and bold and funny and bright. While I would watch most episodes, over the past few years, hers was the character that made me fall in love with the show.

Niles Crane - Frasier - I miss this show. It was funny (well, ok, except for maybe the last season) and intelligent. And they had a jack russell terrier :) I loved Niles' character especially for all the body-type humour though. That opening scene David Hyde Pierce did for a valentine's episode was just so Niles and sooooo funny. I still crack-up just thinking about it.

Terminus report

I"m sipping tea at Caribou Coffee (free wifi!). I arrived yesterday with [info]sesheta_66, [info]anathema91 and [info]stitchesandlace. Was up at 4am, and finished packing (woe procrastination), and then we drove for about 9 hours. Towards the end of the journey we made more and more stops, but overall it was a great trip to Chicago.

Once we arrived, we had trouble finding our luggage. The car was full of bags (we had trouble fitting everything into the trunk), and the bellhop took our room numbers down, but then for some reason delivered it all to [info]fiona_fawkes and [info]mijan's rooms O_o It eventually all got straightened out.

After a really quick dinner I went to an Erotic Author's reading night, where I met for the first time with [info]mizbean, [info]bronze_ribbons, and [info]kabal42. I also saw a bunch of people I met last year at Prophecy. The bookstore the event was held at was very cool - it was a combination comic book store, erotica/erotic coffee table books, and indie zine store. I wish we had something like it back home.

At the end of the night I brought my stuff for the HD goodie bags, and helped stuff them. There's a lot of stuff and I'm looking forward to the picnic today!!!

I passed out fairly early, but I'm glad that after being up for 18 hours and running on 4 hours sleep I made it as late as I did. I woke up early this morning, but had a good long nights sleep.

This morning I'm doing a walking tour with my roomie [info]dbassassin.

::sends hugs to everyone not here::

Woo! Terminus

1. I should be arriving in Chicago on Wednesday late afternoon, with [info]anathema91 and [info]sesheta_66.

2. There will be a snupin meet-up on Friday morning at 10:30. We’ll meet in the lobby and head to Caribou Coffee from there.

3. Instead of the concert, I’m going to the Erotic Harry Potter Night. Who else is going to this?

4. Leave your cellphone number in the comments (screened commenting is on). I’ll leave mine in response.

5. Is there anyone still around the hotel on the Monday night (to Tuesday morning)? In all the excitement of quitting my job (and husband changing jobs at the exact same time!) I forgot that I need a hotel for one night. Is there anyone I can crash with for one night?

I can’t wait to see everyone :D

(crossposted to lj) Terminus + the year

even though I created this journal last summer, this is the first time I'm posting here.

Work kicked my ass this year, but I just finished a major project, spring is finally here, and I'm feeling the need to reach out and see where everyone is.

I'll be going to Terminus in Chicago this summer, having just signed up.

I'm also going to try to finish up a few things I started in the fall - two are original novel length stories, two are fandom (1 h/d, 1 ss/rl)

How has everyone been? Where are you mostly hanging out? lj or here? Are you going to Terminus?
